If you think eight shotgun starts in a member-guest golf tournament are too much, think 16 because that is what Mango Tee, Alabang Golf Club’s premier event, will have next year.

The move is an answer to frequent complaints from Alabang members who are left watching from the sidelines when their names are not called in a lottery for playing slots.

With golf membership of over 2,000, Alabang officials had to raffle playing slots because of the huge demand for playing in the tournament that has deve♈loped a reputation for being one of the richest go🔴lf events among the country’s private clubs. Now, it’s even richer.

According to officials, the lottery has left many members frustrated with only about 400 slots available in the original four-day event. So instead of four days, the newly-elected officials of the country club announced that beginning next year, Mango Tee will be played eight days – Sunday to Sunday – allowing practically all playing members of the club to get a shot at the prizes ranging from luxury cars to two raffle prizes of P1 million per. In all, prizes worth P37 million will be at stake.

“The 37^th Mango Tee will be 🐻the most lavish ever,” said Danny Isla, former founder president of Lexus Manila, Inc., 𒁃who is in the committee in charge of the event.

Each par 3 hole will have cars as prizes. And to make it more exciting, Isla said there will be several pin placements in those holes. “Hitting the jackpot just got better,” he said. “It’s going to be a Mango Tee like never before,” Isla said adding that the budget has also been increased for entertainment and giveaways.

The organizing committee is made up of some of the country’s business titans including top Alabang officials Raffy Mapua and Paul Cortez, club chai🎃rman and president, respectively.

Also in the organizing committee, besides Isla, are Robert Limcaco, Dexter Passion, Jacques Branellec, Cid Diomampo, Arbie Jacinto, Carlo Leonio, David Sison, and Ed Hernandez.
